Crunchbase is the leading database of technology companies, people, and investors. The following guidelines provide an overview on our content approval and moderation processes.

Content Accuracy

Above all, we want our dataset to be accurate. If you ever find information on a profile that is inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading, you can edit the profile yourself or contact our team at support@crunchbase.com

Content Quality

Everyday, thousands of high-quality edits are made to the Crunchbase dataset and we encourage everyone to contribute content; however, content must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Content must be accurate.
  • Content cannot be inflammatory.
  • Content must be objective.
  • Content must provide unique information about a company, product, or person.
  • Content cannot be used as a marketing tool to sell a product or service.
  • Crunchbase is for professional profiles and should not be used to share strictly personal information.
  • All services described on Crunchbase must be legal in the jurisdiction where the service is made available.

Content Removal

Crunchbase is a highly interconnected database and removing one profile often removes valid links from other profiles. Therefore our policy is always to correct problematic profiles rather than remove them from the Crunchbase dataset.

While you may object to a company’s business practices, the quality of a product, or the importance of a person’s profile, that is not sufficient to warrant removal on Crunchbase. When companies close or product are discontinued, we note the updated status, but still do not remove them. If you find a profile to be entirely fictitious, however, we will remove that profile.

Email us at support@crunchbase.com to report profiles that need to be removed.

Moderation Process

As any registered user can edit Crunchbase, our team has several moderation processes in place that actively identify, investigate, and remove content that does not follow our guidelines.

You can learn more about our moderation flags here.
