The Crunchbase MCP brings predictive private market intelligence directly into your existing AI workflows.
Instead of switching between an AI tool and a separate Crunchbase data source, you can ask natural-language questions inside an MCP-compatible client and get answers grounded in real Crunchbase data — not a model's training data or unverified web results — subject to your existing package permissions and compliance controls.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard, now under the Linux Foundation and adopted across the industry; the Crunchbase MCP is our governed, first-party server built on that standard.
Who this is for:
It is designed for financial and investment teams, as well as financial application builders, who want to bring trusted private market intelligence into the AI workflows where research, diligence, sourcing, and decision-making already happen.
Use Cases
Financial and investment teams can use the Crunchbase MCP to:
- Surface breakout startups before they hit the news
- Predict funding, exits, and acquisitions before announcement
- Detect portfolio risk signals earlier like layoffs, churn, and decline
- Compress diligence cycles without adding headcount
AI-driven financial platforms can use the Crunchbase MCP to:
- Eliminate infrastructure builds and accelerate development
- Scale with continuously verified, real-time intelligence
- Access stays governed by existing Crunchbase permissions and compliance controls
- Deliver proprietary data that drives customer acquisition and retention
Requirements
-
A Crunchbase user account
- You can register for an account: https://www.crunchbase.com/register
- An MCP-compatible client, such as: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Cursor, or your own AI application.
-
A Crunchbase MCP-enabled connection
- The Crunchbase MCP lets users access Crunchbase data through AI tools using natural-language questions and workflows.
- You can connect by logging into your Crunchbase account via OAuth ("Log In with Crunchbase") directly from your AI client.
- The data available through MCP still depends on the customer’s Crunchbase package, permissions, and enabled data products. MCP does not give customers access to data outside of their agreement.

Limitations
- MCP access: Available data and functionality depend on your Crunchbase package, enabled products, and permissions.
- Prediction data is directional: Predictive signals are designed to support research and analysis, but they should not be treated as guarantees of future funding, acquisition, IPO, growth, layoffs, or other company outcomes.
- Not investment advice: Crunchbase data and predictions are provided for informational and analytical purposes only and should not be interpreted as financial, investment, legal, or tax advice.
- No unrestricted data use: MCP access does not grant permission to redistribute raw Crunchbase data, create a replacement product, or use Crunchbase data outside the scope of your agreement.
- AI usage restrictions still apply: Customers are responsible for ensuring their use of AI tools complies with their Crunchbase agreement, including any restrictions related to model training, fine-tuning, persistent embeddings, data retention, or third-party AI tools.
- Client compatibility may vary: Functionality may differ depending on the MCP-compatible client or application being used
- Usage limits may apply: MCP usage may be subject to rate limits, quotas, or other usage controls based on your package or agreement.
- Results may vary by query: Natural-language queries may return different results depending on phrasing, available data, permissions, and supported tools.
