Use Crunchbase Skills

Once you connect Crunchbase MCP, you can also use Crunchbase Skills in supported AI tools to put common Crunchbase workflows to work faster.

Skills are pre-built workflows that give your AI instructions for how to complete a task using Crunchbase data. Instead of building a workflow from scratch each time, choose a Skill and tell your AI what you want to accomplish.

Think of Skills as ready-made jobs for your AI: Crunchbase provides the data, and the Skill gives your AI a repeatable way to work with it.

What can I do with Crunchbase Skills?

The first set of Crunchbase Skills is designed for common sourcing and investment research workflows:

  • Thesis Landscape Builder: Find, segment, and prioritize private companies that match an investment thesis.
  • Funding Signals Reviewer: Review recent funding activity and identify companies or rounds that match your criteria.
  • Company Brief Preparer: Create a concise company brief using Crunchbase data before a meeting or review.
  • Funding Intensity Analyzer: Compare disclosed funding amounts and financing activity across a group of companies.
  • Saved Lists Manager: Create, review, monitor, and update your Crunchbase saved lists.

How do I use a Skill?

Before getting started, make sure you've [connected Crunchbase MCP] to an AI tool that supports Skills.

Then:

  1. Choose a Crunchbase Skill based on the work you want your AI to complete.
  2. Add the Skill to your supported AI tool.
  3. Tell your AI to use Crunchbase and name the Skill, then describe what you want it to do.

For example:

“Use the Crunchbase Thesis Landscape Builder Skill to find US seed and Series A companies providing software to independent dental practices. Group them by primary workflow and identify the strongest matches.”

Your AI will use the Skill's workflow together with the Crunchbase data available to your account to complete the task.

Get better results from Skills

  • Be specific about what you're looking for. Include criteria like industry, geography, company stage, or funding range when relevant.
  • Use company domains when possible. This helps your AI connect your request to the correct Crunchbase company.
  • Include a timeframe for time-sensitive work. For example, specify the dates you want reviewed rather than saying “recently.”
  • Remember that your Crunchbase access applies. The data available to a Skill depends on your Crunchbase plan and permissions.
