Using our contact data confidence scores, you can prioritize high-quality contacts and focus on the right people to make the most of your outreach efforts.

We’ve developed a scoring system driven by machine learning models to serve as indicators of whether a contact’s email or phone number is accurate. We cross-validate multiple sources to generate a score of high confidence, medium confidence, or unknown confidence

High Confidence

  • This email is very likely to be accurate.
    • Multiple sources agree on the email address for this contact
    • Third-party sources reported the email address as valid
    • The email address has been used by other Crunchbase users

Medium Confidence

  • This contact data is likely to be accurate
    • No other contacts use the email address
    • The contact's name is included in the email address
    • The email domain matches the company's domain

Unknown

  • This email cannot be confirmed but may still be accurate.

*Please note that Crunchbase is not ultimately responsible or liable for the accuracy of contact information.

It is possible for contact confidence scores to change over time, including those with an Unknown score, as we refresh, update, and add new contact data on a bi-weekly basis. If you’re interested in monitoring the scores of certain contacts, we recommend saving them to a list.

Please note that confidence scores are only available for new contacts, and will not appear for those that you have already unlocked.

Want to filter your contact data search by confidence score?

First, make sure you’re toggled over to the Filters format of search. Then, click the Overview filter category, where you can check the confidence boxes for Phone and Email, based on what score you’re looking for.

If you prefer the query format of search, toggle over from Filters to Query, then click Add Contacts Filter. Select Has Phone or Has Email, then choose the confidence score you’re looking for.
