Access Crunchbase company insights powered by proprietary private company data and AI models that help you focus on the companies and decisions that matter most.
With Crunchbase’s Predictions and Insights API package, you have access to Competitors data. Competitors is built on Crunchbase's proprietary private company data, combining clustering of our products and services data, LLM labeling/evaluation, and model classification to generate a list of competitors. This offers an insightful, ranked list of companies that truly compete — showing how companies overlap across core products and services.
Incorporate Competitors’ market intelligence into your own internal models and tools to identify opportunities, benchmark markets, and surface highly relevant companies faster. Competitors can be accessed through the org similarity endpoint.
Competitors in the Crunchbase API includes:
- Ranked list of competitors for any given company
-
Competitor scoring - each company is assigned a score indicating competitive strength
- High scores indicate strong competitive overlap — typically meaning the companies compete across multiple products, services, or markets, or across their most important offerings.
-
Lower scores indicate lighter or narrower overlap — for example, when only one product or vertical competes, even if that product still matters.
- A low score does not mean that the company is “not a competitor.” It simply means the competitive relationship is more limited in scope, based on product or market overlap.
- Competitor Reasons - each competitor pair is accompanied by reasons that explain the pairings. This includes product, customer, and geographic overlap.
How Competitors Data Can Be Used:
Competitors data can enhance workflows across multiple use cases:
- GTM Teams: Enrich lead scoring and segmentation in dashboards or CRMs. By viewing a potential opportunity’s competitors, GTM teams can add adjacent competitors to their ICP and prioritize outreach.
- Investors and Analysts: Benchmark competition and evaluate market trends to guide deal sourcing and due diligence. Use competitive intelligence to identify peer groups and uncover strategic opportunities.
- Wealth Managers: Integrate competitive insights into CRMs to flag emerging wealth opportunities. Understanding competitors of target or existing clients helps anticipate liquidity events and advise earlier.
